  3. FOREWORD BY THE FEI...

It is my privilege on behalf of the Fédération Equestre Internationale to welcome you to Mezohegyes, Hungary for the FEI Driving World Championships for Young Horses 2018. Over the next four days, we come together to support, develop and encourage future talent within the FEI Driving community.

FEI Driving continues to grow on the global stage, with legions of fans captivated by the different dimensions the sport has to offer; with its capacity to thrill contrasted by the elegance and control also required. Therefore, it is pivotal to the continued growth and success of the sport that from early on we lay constructive foundations, cultivate trust and implement championship routine, to support our horses as they embark upon their continued international careers. A discipline steeped in history and tradition, providing a framework for the future.

The trust aforementioned is the fundamental core to the future success of FEI Driving, the unique paradigm that captivates hearts and minds of spectators and competitors around the world and the reason such feats of athletic skill are possible. It is the trust and bond, be that between horse and rider or horse and driver, which is the fundamental element uniting all FEI disciplines. The FEI is one community, one network, one family perfectly defined by the TwoHearts concept.

It is with great pleasure that over the next few days we bring together spectators and drivers alike, who share a mutual passion for supporting and developing up-and-coming talent. Throughout this month we will have a unique opportunity to witness the full depth within the FEI Driving community; Mezohegyes is exhibiting the exciting future of our sport before attention turns to the FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Tryon, North Carolina where Driving will once again excite audiences on the biggest stage in Equestrian sport.

On behalf of the Fédération Equestre Internationale, I would like to thank organisers, partners, volunteers and officials for their continued commitment and support of our young horses, and for allowing the relationship between our partnerships to flourish. Great appreciation and thanks must be extended to those who invest so much time and passion in bringing on our future Equestrian talent.
